Today I want to introduce you to Merkaia from The Dragon Kings of Broken Light.
She grew up believing her own appearance was an affliction — something to hide, not celebrate. So she was hidden away.
At seventeen, she’s sent to the realm of the red sun, believing she’s simply fulfilling an arranged marriage obligation. She has no idea she’s about to fulfill a prophecy instead.
Writing her introduction was one of my favorite parts of drafting Dragon Kings — there’s something about a character who doesn’t yet know her own significance that I find endlessly compelling.
