About the Story

Diamond “Didi” Herkimer is a city girl — a scientist who believes in evidence, not omens. But when she inherits her uncle’s Arizona bar, she leaves her windowless lab for the desert.

She intended to honor his legacy —

But she inherited far more than property.

His unfinished obsession resurfaces in a series of riddles that lead her deep into the Grand Canyon — and straight into Joe, a childhood friend who once made her a pinky promise over a spirit stone.
